Chile

Chile is a country whose wine heritage combines tradition and modernism.  In sumptuous surroundings, Viña Calina focuses on producing wines that obtain international awards.  Located in the Maule Valley, near the town of Talca, Viña Calina sources the finest fruit from the most renowned Chilean terroirs: Maule, Colchagua, Casablanca, and Limari, in order to produce outstanding world class wines.  We produce three tiers of wines at Viña Calina: Reserve, Alcance (“to reach”), and Bravura (“Courage”).

Calina Reserva Chardonnay
Casablanca Valley - on the nose, it shows tropical fruits such as pineapple and papaya with subtle mineral undertones thanks to picking at the perfect time of ripeness of the grapes.  The malo-lactic fermentation gives a long and creamy mouth feel, with an overall freshness due to its good acidity.  This wine is great to pair with fish and seafood or your favorite ceviche.

Calina Reserva Merlot
Maule Valley - our vineyards planted with Merlot from the Davis clone 181 are now in full production.  This wine is made of 60% Merlot clone 181 that delivers very juicy blackberry aromas and a strong tannin character.  25% of the Merlot is from our very own Viña Calina El Maiten estate, to add typically sweet plum aromas and scented floral notes.  The final blend is 15% Cabernet Sauvignon from Rapel Valley.

Calina Reserva Cabernet
A blend of three different terroirs and three different styles was one of the most challenging and interesting Cabernet produced in years.   We get cherry, mint, and black pepper from Colchagua Valley with the elegance and blackberry aromas of Cachapoal Valley and finished with a touch of juice form Maule Valley that brings juicy red fruit and chalk stone tannins.  The final blend proves to be very complex with a long finish and finely integrated tannins.

Calina Reserva Carménère
Maule Valley - the Maule Valley is the boundary of the Carménère production region, where the varietal reaches its greatest potential.  This wine comes from the Viña El Maiten estate, where the grapes finished their slow maturation process around mid-May to deliver an exotic wine of a deep purple color and distinctive aromas of black fruits and complex spices with notes of oak.

The wines of Viña Calina are true expressions of Chilean terroir.  Founded in 1993, Viña Calina is a state of the art modern winemaking facility with impressive vineyard holdings.

The wine is blended with Cabernet Sauvignon to improve the tannins and the voluminous mouth-feel, with, in addition, a touch of Merlot to improve the acidity and the nose complexity.
